Why Every Black Woman Needs to See Wicked

Writer's picture: Ebony MitchellEbony Mitchell

Black women, you absolutely MUST see Wicked! It’s a life-changing experience. I have never cried so much in a theater before. By the time the final scene hit, I could literally feel electricity running through my arms.

This isn’t just a film; it’s a story that resonates deeply with our experiences as Black women. The pain, the betrayal, the mockery—but also the triumph. Wicked was made for us, and I refuse to hear otherwise.

Cynthia’s performance is nothing short of transformative. She brought a depth and power to this role that I didn’t even know I needed. Watching her felt like she was speaking directly to me, challenging me to reclaim my voice and own my power. It was a reminder that no matter the obstacles, our strength and resilience will always shine through.

If you’ve been struggling with finding your voice or standing firm in your truth, go see Wicked. Trust me, it’s an experience that will move you to your core.
